Some important updates

Listen, I promise you I will start updating this blog more frequently. Really. Things have been ri-DONK-ulous lately. Let’s get everyone up to speed.

Starting with the huge news. I have reached a career milestone earlier this year in that I have secured a literary agent for my book Winter Lullaby and future projects. I’m super excited to be repped by Gabrielle Harbowy and Marisa Corvisiero of the Marisa Corvisiero Literary Agency. In addition to handling the novel, the agency also manages film rights so I have spent the last few months adapting the novel into a screenplay and have just turned in the latest edited draft. It has lit a bit of a fire under me, so I’m really excited to be back toiling in the word mines.

As for other writing projects, I released the first two novellas in the Mad World Cycle of Cobalt City stories earlier this year. Warlock Rising features Gato Loco’s protogee Caterwaul taking on a cycle gang trying to dispense a dangerous, madness-inducing hallucinagen in the city. The Carcosa View features MonsterSmash (Bog Witch, Ghost House, and Kraken) going toe-to-toe with the reality bending King of Crows. Each is a stand-alone book that, when read together are all parts of a bigger whole. Coming later this year will be Throne of Heaven which will give us Kara Sparx and Madjack flexing against the Protectorate’s former heavy hitter, Knockabout, over an orbital space elevator project that threatens to destablize global relations and possibly the fabric of reality itself. Finally, the fourth and final Mad World Cycle novella will be Vote for Stardust that will focus not only on Jaccob “Stardust” Stevens’ run for Mayor of Cobalt City, but also on the evolution and re-emergence of two of Cobalt City’s greatest threats: Jeremy Red and the King in Yellow. Stay tuned and I’ll share links with them when they launch.

In upcoming projects, once I finish the final draft of Vote for Stardust, I will be looking to adapt one or two of my old short stories into a script for a potential short film. If you’re a fan of my short fiction and have a suggestion for which one you’d like to see, drop me a line. I have a few favorites, but nothing has been decided yet. I am also tossing a few ideas around for the next novel. I am looking forward to writing something other than Cobalt City for a while, and am considering a suburban cosmic horror pandemic novel, a crone-punk epic fantasy, or an alt-world contemporary sports fantasy. We’ll see what feels most compelling once I get everything outlined.

In non-professional news, I started back to college last year to finally get a degree of some kind. I’m pleased to announce that next month I will be graduating with my AA and plan to enter a degree completion program in Social Sciences for my Bachelors. It’s been long over-due, and I cannot thank my partner enough for encouraging me to tackle this.

In the meantime, it’s summer and the mercury is climbing. Time for me to find some shade and a giant glass of iced genmaicha tea. Stay frosty out there, folks!
